Chapter 2: Floral, Fresh and Feminine Fragrances

Fragrance Blog

Femininity, sexual desire and happiness, all of which a fragrance encompasses. A fragrance makes us feel like desired beings, connecting us with memories, helping us to escape and allowing us to express our individuality in a scented form. A perfume to me is extremely personal which is why for this blog I have selected three completely different scents that I spritz myself in, dependent on the mood, of course.

1. The Fresh One

Chance Eau Fraîche Eau de Toilette, £95 | Chanel

A whirlwind of energy, brightness and uplifting spirit, this fragrance emits an aura of happiness and a sense of youth. Having had a permanent spot on my dressing table since the age of fourteen when my Grandmother kindly surprised me with a bottle, this perfume is often described as Isabella Sophie’s most recognisable scent.

A combination of soft jasmine, fresh citrus and teak wood tones allows me to reminisce about long summer evenings lying on the grass with a G&T in my hand looking up at the blue, puffy clouded sky dreaming about the next sausage or veggie skewer to come off the barbecue. This perfume will always hold a special place in my heart and a permanent spot on my dressing table. With the clocks going forward, the bees emerging from their slumber and the blossom blooming, it’s time to blow the dust off this perfume for another Spring and Summer.

2. The Rosy One

Eau Rose Eau de Toilette, £98 | Diptyque

Twirling and prancing around the Alice and Wonderland rose garden is a heightened fantasy I usually play in my head when I immerse myself in this floral fragrance. The long-lasting, sweet and elegant fragrance has been a new edition to my collection but one I have completely fallen in love with.

Feeling feminine, womanly and beautiful all in one the minute this fragrance meets my skin, it automatically makes me want to leap around my bedroom dressed head to toe in pink, silk pyjamas with a peony tucked behind my ear and a ridiculously bright shade of pink lying on my lips. Damask and centifolia rose, bergamot, lychee, honey, cedar with an underlying musk tone are just some of the fragrant elements lying within the beautifully packaged bottle. Similar with the Chance Eau Fraîche perfume, this perfume plays a significant part in the summer months and is most commonly reached for when I’m dressed head to toe in pink… how ironic.

3. The Musky One

As the luxurious, silver lid of this perfume is erected, a sea of memories come flooding back to me. Stepping out of the hotel lobby onto the streets of Berlin, wearing my black, rouged velvet dress, pearl earrings and patent heels whilst releasing a musk scent, this fragrance bodes well for an elegant evening with added extra class.

A fresh, yet full bodied perfume merges Mexican lime, cool mint and blackcurrant to produce a soft musk fragrance to make you feel heavenly and worth a million pounds and can be worn all year round. With my birthday approaching it looks as if I will be asking for another bottle of this heavenly fragrance, but in the meantime, I will have to resort back to rationing the remains that lie at the bottom of this perfectly, shaped bottle.
